HONG KONG 2011

This month I visited Hong Kong with ISO partner Hans Lo who showed me around his home town. I ate some amazing food and found some pretty awesome things. Pick Me Up

I will be taking part in Pick Me Up, the UK’s only Contemporary Graphic Art Fair at Somerset House in March. For more information & tickets click here. I will be exhibiting a large amount of new work and there will be prints of all sizes, kinds and prices for sale. I will have Litho posters, screen prints, Large format Glclee, Riso prints, all from £10 - £700. Make sure you book a ticket, its going to be awesome and plenty other great work to look at too.

THINGS TO VISIT

We just finished installing the window display at the temporary Outline Editions Gallery in Soho. They have awesome prints from lots of different artists, as well as a stock load of Kate Moross Tees. Make sure you have a visit, but if you can’t make it you can see our handywork on the ISO website. I also have a piece of work in the newly curated 52 Weeks Exhibition in aid of Shelter. 52 artists have each donated a piece of work to Shelter, each representing a week of the year. The exhibition will take place at 20 Hoxton Square Projects, 20 Hoxton Square, London, N1 6NT from 25 – 27 November 2010.

Wow the years rush by quickly. I am now the ripe old age of 24. I don’t feel like a spritely 19 year old anymore, now I am a veteran. Thank you for all your birthday messages, so much exciting stuff happening at the end of this year, I am bursting to tell you but I have to wait. Keep your eyes open, it will be announced soon.

THE APPLE IS BIG

I travelled to NYC for a little catch up with my beloved Big Apple. I can’t get enough of that place. Whilst in the states I worked on a T-Shirt collab with HeartsRevolution which you can order from the shop. There are lots of long term projects that I can’t exhibit on here yet, but they include work with Kiehl’s, Rome Snowboards, R.Newbold x Kate Moross collection, and oh yeah some awesome new releases on Isomorphs.

HAPPY TWENTY TEENS

The holidays are over, and it’s back to reality. There is some mad crazy stuff happening this year. We start off with the Grafik Design Awards, Kate Moross x R.Newbold Collection, music videos, vinyl releases and collaborations with Kiehl’s and Nike. All of which I cannot reveal just yet, so keep on revisiting the site for news.

GRAFIK DESIGN AWARDS

I have been asked to be a judge for the next Grafik Awards, with the judging taking place on 22nd February 2010. The Grafik Design Awards are the only UK awards dedicated to graphic design, and they’ll be different to other award schemes by being genuinely top quality, accessible (easy and affordable to enter) and most importantly, talent-driven.

Other confirmed judges are Wim Crouwel, Peter Saville, Eva Rucki (Troika), Ben Parker (Made Thought), Sara de Bondt and Emily King (Frieze Magazine).  The awards party is set to be held at The Wapping Project, London on 29th April 2010.

Really excited to say the R.Newbold X Kate Moross collaboration will be previewing soon, as the final samples have arrived from the factory. Images coming soon.  I have a new range of triangle necklaces in various colours hitting the shop this week so watch for further updates.

SEMIPERMANENT

I am off to the USA for my summer holiday, still working, but finally time for a bit of a break. As soon as I am done there I am flying to New Zealand to speak at this years Semi-Permanant along side speakers such as David Carson & Pentagram. You can read more about SP on their website, it is a great event. I actually went to one in the UK many many years ago, and it was a great way to get introduced into the Creative Industry. I will be speaking at the PSFK Good Ideas Salon on January 30th. The event is in association with The Guardian and is being held at Kings Place in London.  For more information and ticket bookings click here.

BUSY

What crazy months September/October have been?  All the events that I spoke at or attended went swimmingly, thank you for coming if you did show your faces.  If you couldn’t make it, summaries of all events are in the work or play sections of the site.  Lots of work being posted all over the shop. September 18th // Hidden Depths hosted by It’s Pop It’s Art @ Amersham Arms, London (Airside + EMI) Telling people my thoughts on art and music.

September 19th-29th // I am touring with HeartsRevolution you can find show dates, times and locations here.

September 30th // YCN Print demonstration in the NIKE 1948 PopUP Store - 32, Batemans Row.  I will be giving an informal talk about my work, before printing 200 ltd edition screen prints in the space, of which each attendee will receive one free. Talks will start at 12.30pm and should last around 30 minutes. Free to attend but places are limited. October 1st // Strong Look launch night - Live Drawing + other fun things, @ New Hero Brighton. Come one come all.

I have collaborated with Midnight Juggernauts and created a unique 7” record which is out on my label Isomorph Records September 1st.  It is a black on black foil dream.  You can pre-order it by clicking here. COMPUTER ARTS

There is a nice double page spread about my working method in Computer Arts this month.  Rob Carney the editor interviewed me for the piece, and he was very patient, as I was running around like a madman in NYC. After coming across rather grumpy, they were very complimentary of my work and my dedication, they called me “one of the UK’s most wanted new designers” which was awfuly nice of them.  They also wrote that my “success makes a mockery of my age”, is it wrong that I feel as though I could have done more? 

Either way, thank you Computer Arts for being supportive of my work this year, everyone should go grab a copy and read all about some other friends of mine, such as Love Creative, and ilovedust (who make slick bikes) and Lewes Herriot.

News flash! These just got back from the printers! NEW KATE MOROSS WEBSITE COMING SOON

Hello Friends and Followers,

It’s about time I got a new website, so it’s on its way. The javascript is now out of date in this one, but it has served me very well for the 2 years it has been live. The new site will be up in a few weeks, and will feature all my most recent work, and will have a new catalogue system, plus a keyword search function, making it easier to find everything.

News wise, I am now living in New York City, working very hard and enjoying the pizza. I will be coming back to the UK in September to set up my studio. I will be holding interviews for interns and assistants, please submit your c.v’s to katenyc[at]katemoross.com.

I have just arrived home from Paris, the Cobrasnake Yard sale with Collette and Edbanger was awesome, made lots of excellent swaps, the rain stayed away (for most of the weekend). I am touring with the band as part of the live stage show, doing visuals on my new Numark and making use of the beautiful Tenori-On. Keep an eye out, more info to come.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Now it is approaching 2008 I would like to take the time to summarise the progress of my career in 2007.

This year started the ball rolling (pretty bloody fast). I have realised a few of my life dreams in just 12 months. Achieving a nationwide billboard campaign, designing a hat with New Era, establishing relationships with Dazed & Confused, and Vice Magazine internationally, as well as being featured in Grafik, and being named a Creative Future by the amazing people at Creative Review.

This Year I have:

Designed 10 T-shirts / 20 Flyers / 5 7“s / 3 12“s / 5 Logos / 5 Posters / 4 CD’s / 5 Magazine Covers / 5 Magazine Commissions + other stuff I can’t remember.

Participated in 6 Exhibitions

Been featured in over 20 printed publications, and numerous websites.

Started a record label.

Built a studio.

Worked my self extremely hard.

Iits time for me to spread my wings, don’t you think, London is probably sick of me now. I now have representation in Stockholm, and am participating in projects in the USA and Europe. Super excited about what the new year has instore. I am looking forward to graduating and establishing a professional studio and completing the setup of my company.

Thank you to everyone in every walk of life for your support.
Friends, family and supporters alike. You are responsible for the perpetuation of my career. A book of all this years accomplishments is available for pre-order in January – keep your eyes peeled.

GRAFIK HAPPINESS

I have started a Record Label which goes under my Umbrella:ISOMORPHS. The first release will be Cutting Pink with Knives’ recently released on CD Populuxxe. It comes as super limited edition 10” Gatefold Emerald Green Vinyl… Yummy. The first 50 Numbered and signed copies are available from the isomorph website. Others will be available from some music retailers, and from the band themselves. 10” Release date is set for November 1st – just ready for your Christmas shop.

Topshop collaboration has been confirmed for mid January, after the dates moving around a lot this should be fixed. Unfortunately due to unseen events with the venue I will not be having my solo show this December either. But there will be a party to celebrate soon enough.

Press wise – there is alot out there at the moment – Features in Grafik Magazine, Dummy Magazine, Grrrl, Things We Love Fanzine, Loud & Quiet Magazine, Vice Cover, & lots more I cannot remember. Who wants to be my press officer? I just wanted to say thank you to Laura Clayton for writing so nicely about me, and putting up with South East London Hell & my messy study.  I have just bought 2 new desks to sort my studio out once and for-all. Will post new studio photo, so you can imagine me working away into the dead of night. Except it takes Ikea a month to deliver. So thats going to have to wait.

Finally Graphic 10 has been printed and is in any good Magma Bookshop near you. I’m getting my copy this week, some people have already picked it up, but I’m not sure what page I’m on so will repost with that when my copy arrives.

CLEAN SLATE

HELLO THERE,

Welcome to my brand spanking new cms website.  I decided to wash away all of my pain staking html and find a professional to build my new site.  So many thanks to John Peele of “Rockbeatspaper”:http://rockbeatspaper.net for building it for me.

There is a huge amount of new work on here which will take your fancy, and a lot more to come in this new year.  Look out for my work in Dazed, Vice, Disorder, and Fact Magazine.  I have some more work under my pillow which I can’t upload just yet - not till I am allowed to anyway.  I was tempted to post some of my older news sections here, but they were thoroughly embarrassing to read so I decided against it.

You can also comment on this blog section which I will be keeping up to date - as well posting works in progress, and updating with new work ON TIME.  I have taken away alot of the sections from my last site, including the guest book so comment on blog posts instead.
