NEW KATE MOROSS WEBSITE COMING SOON

Hello Friends and Followers,

It’s about time I got a new website, so it’s on its way. The javascript is now out of date in this one, but it has served me very well for the 2 years it has been live. The new site will be up in a few weeks, and will feature all my most recent work, and will have a new catalogue system, plus a keyword search function, making it easier to find everything.

News wise, I am now living in New York City, working very hard and enjoying the pizza. I will be coming back to the UK in September to set up my studio. I will be holding interviews for interns and assistants, please submit your c.v’s to katenyc[at]katemoross.com.

I will be back!

TOPSHOP PRESS RELEASE

Kate Moross for Topshop S/S ‘08

Kate Moross – quickly becoming one of the most prolific new young illustrators and designers, has created a S/S ’08 capsule collection of printed T-shirts, vests and jumpers exclusively for Topshop.

Six jersey pieces feature science-inspired graphics. Motifs include hand drawn, psychedelic organic designs, intertwined with structured spacial shapes and astrophysical typography.

On Friday 25 January Kate will be part of Topshop’s first live art installation, to be held in the Oxford Circus flagship. Filmed live by TOPSHOP.COM and broadcast via a podcast, the hand drawn window will be a spectacle in itself .

Kate comments:

“This is an great opportunity for me. Topshop have given me the creative freedom and scope to produce something exciting, for a brand new audience…Graphic design is a science as much as it is an art. I aim to explore science and theory through the medium of illustration, which can breathe new life into these subjects and help to communicate them in an exciting way”

Editor’s Notes:

Kate Moross for Topshop will be available in selected stores and online at TOPSHOP.COM from 25 January 2008.

Kate Moross began her career by creating flyers for hip London clubs and bands including The Mystery Jets. She has produced commercial illustrations for Cadburys and Sony. Whilst contributing to Nylon, Vice and Dazed, Kate also runs her own record label Isomorphs, and is due to publish her own book this year. 2008 will also see exciting new collaborations with new Era and Nike.

ISOMORPH PRESS RELEASE

Hot Young Design Talent Kate Moross Launches Art-Driven Record Label

We all know that a killer sleeve can sell a record without so much as a listen, but at a time when accumulating albums is as easy as pressing ‘download’ on a computer screen, the music industry’s infatuation with design (not to mention good old fashioned record collecting) is fast becoming a doomed love affair. Dismayed by the recent spate of download-only releases, designer, illustrator and vinyl enthusiast Kate Moross has taken matters into her own hands with the launch of Isomorph, the world’s first art-driven record label.

Launched in November 2007, Isomorph aims to repackage existing music, paying attention to the aesthetic of each record and revelling in the joy of print process, high production value and most of all, the vinyl format. “Each release is a limited edition numbered copy with the first fifty signed and only available from www.isomorphs.com,” says Moross. “Kind of like a series of artists prints that you can listen to.”

The first band to have been treated to the Isomorph touch are Cutting Pink with Knives who have re-released their Populuxxe LP on tasty ten inch emerald vinyl. Crafting a custom candy-hued origami typeface, Moross has packaged it into a reversible gatefold sleeve complete with a linear illustration demonstrating the evolution of a piece of origami paper into a folded bird.

Isomorph is fast attracting new disciples keen to see their music immortalized not only tangibly, but also in the artwork canon, and new releases are scheduled until September 2008. The first will be dance two-piece HeartsRevolution’s Switchblade EP, due for release in April and limited to 200 copies. And what’s more, this year will see Isomorph grow to encompass a publishing house for forthcoming books designed by Moross.

“Where most labels would scrimp and save, Isomorph aims to indulge in all aspects of vinyl releases, creating collectors’ editions in small print numbers”
KATE MOROSS

“Kate Moross seems to be able to turn anything she touches in 27million carat gold”
VICE MAGAZINE

“Dazed loves Kate Moross, but she makes us sick. Barely in her second decade of life, Kate has managed to build up, develop and promote her designs at a disarming rate. Something of a renegade among the youth of London, Kate has put in the hours and worked hard to get recognition, utilising her talent in ways that is seldom seen nowadays. May the Kate Moross empire reign supreme.” DAZED & CONFUSED

NOTES TO EDITOR

Kate Moross is a designer and illustrator based in London. Despite her twenty-one years, she can already count a nationwide billboard campaign for Cadbury’s, a signature clothing range for Topshop and a custom designed New Era cap among her numerous commercial achievements, not to mention profiles in Grafik magazine, Creative Review and Vice to name but a few.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Now it is approaching 2008 I would like to take the time to summarise the progress of my career in 2007.

This year started the ball rolling (pretty bloody fast). I have realised a few of my life dreams in just 12 months. Achieving a nationwide billboard campaign, designing a hat with New Era, establishing relationships with Dazed & Confused, and Vice Magazine internationally, as well as being featured in Grafik, and being named a Creative Future by the amazing people at Creative Review.

This Year I have:

Designed 10 T-shirts / 20 Flyers / 5 7“s / 3 12“s / 5 Logos / 5 Posters / 4 CD’s / 5 Magazine Covers / 5 Magazine Commissions + other stuff I can’t remember.

Participated in 6 Exhibitions

Been featured in over 20 printed publications, and numerous websites.

Started a record label.

Built a studio.

Worked my self extremely hard.

Iits time for me to spread my wings, don’t you think, London is probably sick of me now. I now have representation in Stockholm, and am participating in projects in the USA and Europe. Super excited about what the new year has instore. I am looking forward to graduating and establishing a professional studio and completing the setup of my company.

Thank you to everyone in every walk of life for your support.
Friends, family and supporters alike. You are responsible for the perpetuation of my career. A book of all this years accomplishments is available for pre-order in January – keep your eyes peeled.

Happy New Year Everyone!
Yours – Kate x

Also I have started a Record Label which goes under my Umbrella: ISOMORPHS . The first release will be Cutting Pink with Knives’ recently released on CD Populuxxe. It comes as super limited edition 10” Gatefold Emerald Green Vinyl… Yummy. The first 50 Numbered and signed copies are available from the isomorph website. Others will be available from some music retailers, and from the band themselves. 10” Release date is set for November 1st – just ready for your Christmas shop.

Topshop collaboration has been confirmed for mid January, after the dates moving around a lot this should be fixed. Unfortunately due to unseen events with the venue I will not be having my solo show this December either. But there will be a party to celebrate soon enough.

Press wise – there is alot out there at the moment – Features in Grafik Magazine, Dummy Magazine, Grrrl, Things We Love Fanzine, Loud & Quiet Magazine, Vice Cover, & lots more I cannot remember. Who wants to be my press officer? I just wanted to say thank you to Laura Clayton for writing so nicely about me, and putting up with South East London Hell & my messy study.

You can read the Grafik Artilcle here.

I have just bought 2 new desks to sort my studio out once and for-all. Will post new studio photo, so you can imagine me working away into the dead of night. Except it takes Ikea a month to deliver. So thats going to have to wait.
